So I'm pretty much in love with this place!!!!! I feel like I'm living in a constant vacation with a little bit of "work" thrown into the mix.

Lots of Batik
My wonderful feelings of everything are much helped my the timing of my travels. Last week was my first week as Global Mama's design intern and I arrived at the perfect time! My first day was the selection process day for the Spring/Summer 2014 line!!! I got to sit in on the process and put my two cents in every now and then. The next few days were spent learning how to alter patterns for the seamstresses and photographing then new line. Then on Friday I got to do trend research for the Fall 2015 line, so pretty much perfect in a work week! Not to mention everyone in the office is super nice and welcoming. Annnnnd tomorrow I get to learn how to make Batik!

My Saturday view
In my down time I've been hanging out with the Global Mama staff and some of the other expats in the area. The hotel (that I'm at right now) has a happy hour Friday so I've been getting my anti-malaria gin and tonic fix on Fridays. Saturday I was invited to a staff member's mother, sister and aunt's funeral. I am really greatful for the experience, but it was certainly not what I expected! I just sat with the rest of the staff and we chatted for a few hours then ate lunch. The rest of my weekend was spent at the beach and exploring the near by vegetable market. I have cooked a few meals but I much prefer going over to Eli's to eat. Tonight I ate goat, and I was really good! I kind of tasted like steak... People eat cat here, so I made sure to tell Eli I wasn't willing to try that!!!!!

"camping" in the kitchen
A short term volunteer from Australia arrives in a few days, so keep your fingers crossed that I will have some kind of tourist adventure story to tell next week!
