Lets Ride

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

Wow what an amazing year 2014 was! I have been able to accomplish so many things and I am on this wonderful adventure around the world!!! My last two weeks of 2014 were full of fun and travels.
Underberg Ottery Cottage
Sally, Wade, and I kicked off our two week road trip at Sally’s Gran’s cottage in the Underberg Mountains. Words can’t begin to describe how beautiful this place was! I was surrounded by green hills and mountains, a small waterfall, gardens, and a pond. The cottages were built by Sally’s grandfather, who knew how to pick a gorgeous location. I got to spend the days with new friends being lazy enjoying our surroundings.

Durban
After a sad goodbye to the Ottery Cottage Sally and I dropped Wade off and headed to her Gran’s house in Durban. Sally’s family was so lovely to me during the Christmas holidays. We have four solid days of big family meals and wine drinking. I also got to see a bit of the city via Sally’s boyfriend Mike. On my second to last day in Durban Sally’s parents took me to a game reserve and I got to go on a mini safari! I was super lucky and got to see a lot of animals. The highlights were; rhinos, zebras, warthog, and giraffe. Our last family dinner was really nice at Sally’s Uncle Nick’s house. Their home was an old Victorian on the edge of a botanical garden, mom you would have loved it! Then the next day we were up at 6:30 to head back to the mountains!

Smoking Dragon Music Festival
The last leg of the road trip was spent surrounded by mountains, music, and lazy afternoons. Smoking Dragon is a fairly small music festival. I’m guessing about 2,000 people were there, because I saw a lot of the same faces. The venue only had one tent, but that made things easy! Ironically Sally and Mike’s friends camped right next to each other so we were able to hang out with a big group for the four days. We had great weather and one afternoon was spent at a nearby park which had a series of small waterfalls. I went for a very icy swim, but it was worth it! At night I danced like a crazy lady and had such a good time! New Year’s Eve was amazing! Sally’s family got me face paints for my stocking so the whole group had fun with them and I made new friends on the dance floor painting people! I had about 7 New Year’s kisses and danced till my feet hurt. Yesterday we finished the last leg of the road trip after a slow morning of cleaning up camp. The whole crew had lunch at a lovely little hotel. Then there were more sad goodbyes.

Now I am back in Joberg for a few days before I hop on a plane to Australia! Thanks to everyone who has been a part of my 2014, I can’t wait to see what 2015 has in store for me!
